I Once Helped Tyler Paint a Cyc

We went in on a Saturday morning armed with three five-gallon buckets of white paint. Afterwards, we had pizza.

(B&W photos were shot with a Mamiya 645AF and Tmax400)

Colorized B&W Portrait | Aaron Larue

Our friend Aaron had the idea to take a black and white film portrait of himself and colorize it. So on a hot Sunday afternoon in the summer, we hung out with a few rolls of Tmax400 and a plethora of film cameras.

A few instants were shot, too. Not pictured here, however.

Here are just a few of my favorites.

Anderson Lake County Park | Mamiya 645af w/ TMax400

With all my wedding work caught up and delivered, I think it's about time I revive my little personal photo blog a bit. To start, here's Anderson Lake County Park when Tyler was trying out his new Leica M7.

#DDIYHOUSE | Two frames. Mamiya 645af + Portra 800

Always a favorite subject to photograph.

He's really a trooper when he has up to three people pointing cameras at him.

Mamiya 645AF | Uvas Canyon County Park

A while ago, I put two rolls of Portra 800 into my Mamiya 645af and marched into Uvas Canyon County Park. I remember I loved it there the first time I visited.

've never shot Portra 800 before. I'm sure the colors would look much better if it were professionally scanned, so my scanning abilities could use some work.

Nevertheless...

#DDIYHOUSE - Mamiya 645AF

The ultimate DIY - Building your own house.

Mamiya 645af Kodak Tmax400

Daniel had started the process of building a house on his property about three years ago, getting permits from the city and consulting with contractors. It was a long and tedious process.

Finally, he started building. Building the frame. Laying down rebar. Pouring in the concrete. An infinite amount of tiny, tedious steps that started taking shape only recently.

At first, there was a floor. Then walls formed. And now we have a second story to the house! I wish I started the documentation from the very beginning, but it had only been a few snapshots with the phone here and there by Tyler.

Lately, Tyler and I have been helping out a little bit with building the house and I always bring along some form of camera.

Here are a few shot with the Mamiya 645af and Kodak Tmax400. Scanned and developed by myself. Mamiya 645af Kodak Tmax400Mamiya 645af Kodak Tmax400

MAMIYA 645AF | Baker Beach

It's slow season right now for weddings, so lately I've been able to dabble more in film and instant film.

Lately I've started developing and scanning my own black and white 120 film, too! Here are some images from a little meet up at Baker Beach with Tomasz and Amy!

I was hoping for a nice sunset, but the fog works too.

New Cameras

I haven't updated this as often as I used to since I switched over my wedding and portrait work over to www.anniehallphoto.com/blog and have since been wondering how to keep this blog updated as well.

"What do you do for fun?" is a question people like to ask, and I think I finally have an answer besides "I still like to take pictures in my free time." I like to learn and shoot with film. In my free time I've been going out with some film cameras, but I haven't really posted any of the results here. I think it's maybe because I haven't been satisfied with my skills yet, but it'd be fun to start keeping track of my progress here.

A friend of mine has access to a darkroom where he can help me develop some black and white film, and I've been playing with the idea of getting an Epson V600 to scan my own negatives. Maybe if I get better at this stuff I can start saving money from sending my film out. I got more time than money! I'm going to try to use the resources I have as much as I can.

Anyway, the two recent new cameras I got is the Nikon FM and the Mamiya 645af. Both were an awesome deal I didn't want to pass up. I wanted a 35mm film camera after the Nikon N80 mysteriously stopped working, and I also wanted a medium format camera with autofocus (Recently I've absolutely just been SUCKING at manually focusing with the Mamiya RB67), and the size of the RB67 has been keeping me from going out and shooting with it.

Someone stop me from buying ANY OTHER CAMERAS from now on. I've covered ALL my bases, and have absolutely NO REASON to get anything else.
