An exciting weekend!

It's been an exciting weekend. :) Friday was UCSB's annual Reel Loud, a film festival of student-made 16mm silent films with live band accompaniments. It was so exciting to finally see all our hard work up on the screen, viewed by an auditorium full of people. I am so excited to announce one of the films I worked on, "Pass the Parcel" won Audience Choice Awards! "Pass the Parcel" also won Best Editing (Genevieve Sawicz) and Best Cinematography (Cameron Huntley and me, Annie Hall!)!!

Today I went out to eat at a lovely restaurant called Arch Rock Fish. :)

Week 21/52 Black and White Self Portrait

21/52

Something simple for this week, because God knows, I need simplicity and peace of mind right now.
So here is something a little bit more honest, a little bit more upfront, and a little bit more earnest.

Sigma Lambda Gamma Banquet

Last weekend I shot Sigma Lambda Gamma's end of the year banquet, and it was so much fun. I arrived early with my roommate so she could set up and I could scout around the space a bit to decide where group pictures would look best. The light outside was just perfect with my 50mm f/1.8 for couple portraits and luckily the steps leading outside had this perfect symmetry that was golden for the bigger group shots. After formal pictures, we headed inside for dinner and I got to sit and eat with a couple of the girls (nobody likes pictures of themselves eating, haha!).

After dinner, there were speeches and awards, where I photographed the acceptances of awards as well as other moments I could capture. I absolutely love photographing those moments people don't really notice or tend to forget, like a couple whispering to each other or someone happily applauding.

Anyway, I had a fun time. :) The place was beautiful and the girls were all just so gorgeous!

Week 20/52 The Red Beanie

20/52
Because I haven't really smiled in my 52 weeks.

It's spring time but it still gets breezy here up in San Barbara. I really, really can't wait for this quarter to be over.

San Francisco For a Day

My friend Tyler and I visited San Francisco for a day. We brought with us a ton of equipment - D7000, D90, 70-200mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, 12-24 f/4, 10.5mm f/2.8, and a tripod, and we walked everywhere. It was so gorgeous... definitely have to go back and do more!

Week 18/52 Turning Tables

18/52

So I won't let you close enough to hurt me,
No, I won't rescue, you to just desert me,
I cant give you the heart you think you gave me,
It's time to say goodbye to turning tables,
To turning tables,

Under haunted skies I see you, ooh,
Where love is lost, your ghost is found,
I braved a hundred storms to leave you,
As hard as you try, no, I will never be knocked down
