I've been shooting casually for about three years now, and have just gotten really serious about it in the last year. I need to say a big massive thank you.
Thank you to those who come up to me and tell me in an apologetic tone that they've stalked my facebook, stumbled across my website or blog, and absolutely love my work. I put my work up for the sole purpose of getting exposure and letting people see my work. You are not stalking me, you are supporting me. Thank you.
Thank you to those who have given me a photo credit when I did not ask for one. It shows me that you respect me, my work, and the time it's taken me to get to where I am now. It has led me to amazing things (not exaggerating!), and I am so grateful. Thank you.
Thank you to those who have referred me to friends and family. It absolutely means the world to me when you trust my talent enough to keep it going.
Thank you to those who've 'liked' my photo on facebook. Thank you to those who also put up with my photography-talk and haven't deleted me yet, haha.
Thank you to those who use one of my photos as their facebook profile picture. It's just facebook, but it also means a hell of a lot to me. It shows that you like not only how I saw you in that moment but also how I chose to represent you with the tool I use to create my art.
Thank you to those who have said they've seen better. Thank you to those who have said my images were "not interesting." You have challenged me to be critical of my own work and strive to be better than I am now. At the same time, you have challenged me to learn to create images for myself and not to please others. You have challenged me to stay true to my style and my integrity. If I do not love my own work, then no one else truly will, either. Thank you.
A big, massive thank you to all.
Thank you for sharing your talent in an honest and un-arrogant way that invites admiration and collaboration. It's easy to support people who are open to all types of feedback.
